An opportunity to sign ANCHORS was one of the privileges granted the student body. Here Betty Hun- toon lseatedl, Betty Miller, Dick McCullough, Nancy Sowden, and Jack Tilson inscribe their John Henry's along with remember when . . . As John Q. Studentbody, a Senior at South- port, stands looking out the east door of the new and gigantic fieldhouse, he sees a great phase of Southport's history. Standing in the midst of the new look and gazing at the old is a very strange feeling to John because he has been a part of both. As he stands there, deep in thought, John's entire high school career is reflected in his eyes, with an accent on its brevity. The thousand and one todays and tomorrows that were so real have been reduced to a handful of yesterdays to be filed away as memories. Graduation day, which once seemed remote, is now close at hand. So, now, as the rapidity of spring events fore- tells the coming graduation, John Q. Student- body stands gazing out the east door of the tieldhouse. He has been one of the first new look class, the first of many. COMMEN CEMENT - NOT AN END Many of the alumni attend Baccalaureate and Commencement services. Pictured below are George Scearce, Nina Jo Dean, Nancy Niederauer, and Richard Hohn, i958 graduates, Jerry Tracy, Bill Hohlt, and Jack Linson, alumni.
