Each year on Easter Sunday various churches of the community unite for a combined Easter Sunrise Service, the theme of which is The Resurrection. The musical portion of the program is presented by adults, students, and children who compose a com- bined choir. They represent the schools and the churches of the community. Responsible for the outstanding Sunrise Service were Miss Blanche Penrod, Chairman, and her many com- mittees. lAlso, the pupils of Southport display their talent by portraying the characters and designing the impressive background for the pageant. This represents one of the three holiday services that are celebrated. HOLIDAY DECOR Hark, the herald angels sing, glory to the newborn king.' This message was conveyed to Southport pupils by Christmas decorations prepared by the art department. The angels above, painted by Lonnie Beck, Ray Turner, and Charles Wilson, graced the west hall. Senior-ority was responsible for the beautiful Christmas tree.
