Prima donna Artith Bright fascinates her audience with a pert ballet while Helen Hardegan claims she Cain't Say No! Each year in the month of May a talent show is produced for the student body and P.T.A. Last year the theme was Cardinal Bandstandf' V The first prize of five dollars was awarded to- Don Lee and his bandg tied for second prize of three dollars were Bill Brittan with a trumpet solo and Helen Hardegan with a song from Oklahorna g third prize of two dollars was captured by John Walker for a piano solo. THE CARDIN AL BANDSTAN D As a sophomore, Kevin Drake tapped his way into the 1958 Talent Show. Two senior singing ensembles also won recognition. The finale consisted of the annual parade of senior girls singing Halls of Ivy. l I5

At the close of the football season each year a Mr. and Miss Scrimmage are chosen to reign at the annual Sweater Swirl. ln May, a dance in honor of the spring athletes is given by G.A.A. at which three queens are chosen to reign. The senior girl is the queen of service, the junior is queen of personality, and the sophomore is queen of beauty. Mr. and Miss Scrimmage for 1958 were Jeff Coulter and Linda Langley. Their court was composed of Vickie Davis, Kenny Nierman, Sue Wasson, Jim Green, Carolyn Goodnight, and Bob Ashman. THOSE GROWN IN G EVENTS The May Queens were senior, Lou Manning, junior, Dolores Hogue, sophomore, Donna Emmons, and their court Carolyn Goodnight, Nancy Jo Dawson, Pat Tapscott, Wilma Bockes, Cindy Orme, Edith Schnier, and Madelyn Enders.

Paint the Town Pink, this year's senior play, turned into a small riot when Mr. Clark, principal of Mansfield High School, instituted a turnabout day between the students and the faculty. Christy, student secretary, got confused and told the painter color number 32, which was a shocking pink, for the confer- ence room.
