HONIONS IN THE STEW In dramatics, to be wished good luck is bad luck for an actor. Instead, the Senior Play co-sponsors, Mr. Thomas Brethauer and Miss Sue Burris told the cast, Don't break a leg. This seemed to work because this was one of the most successful plays ever presented at Southport. Where hearts were high and fortunes low, and- ONIONS IN THE STEW describes the island life of the Mac- Donald family, where everything seems to backfire. Betty MacDonald is faced with some unusual and uproarious com- plications in this life along with the problems of two boy- crazy, teen-age daughters, They are at the painful stage where they put on lipstick to gather driftwood and are always coming up with mysterious ailments to avoid their homework-such as non-focusing eyes, or aching toenails. To them the dating problem on an island is the most disastrous ever. Their gloom makes life even more miserable for their mother, yet in the midst of the humorous difficulties and despair, the family finds a special value in the life they created-one they would not trade for anything in the world. lO Barbara Dennerline Monty Siekerrnan ..
