esse Bl lckwell Our Hero Southport boasted not only one of the best basketball teams in the state but also one of the finest individual players Senior Jesse Blackwell has been playing roundball since his early grade school days and has been a member of the varsity squad at Southport for the past three years He has the honor of having been chosen allcounty all conference all sectional and all regional in both his junior and senior years and also all semi state this year Blackwell broke the school s individual scoring record of 493 set by Joe Simpson last year by scoring 566 times in 28 games first in both the city and county Though Jesse has played his last game as a Cardinal his fine sportsmanship and tremendous playing ability will be re membered for many seasons and will undoubtedly be taken as an example and goal by many future Southport netmen Stlte Fur CNl1lH1PlOl1 Members of Southport High have always been con sidered among the best in most of their undertakings and the State Fair was no exception At this great an nual event we really hogged it all Proof ot this are the many awards won by Southport students among them was Tom Bodenreider with his three Berkshire pigs which took first honors . .W 2 1 , . .
