esse Bl lckwell Our Hero Southport boasted not only one of the best basketball teams in the state but also one of the finest individual players Senior Jesse Blackwell has been playing roundball since his early grade school days and has been a member of the varsity squad at Southport for the past three years He has the honor of having been chosen allcounty all conference all sectional and all regional in both his junior and senior years and also all semi state this year Blackwell broke the school s individual scoring record of 493 set by Joe Simpson last year by scoring 566 times in 28 games first in both the city and county Though Jesse has played his last game as a Cardinal his fine sportsmanship and tremendous playing ability will be re membered for many seasons and will undoubtedly be taken as an example and goal by many future Southport netmen Stlte Fur CNl1lH1PlOl1 Members of Southport High have always been con sidered among the best in most of their undertakings and the State Fair was no exception At this great an nual event we really hogged it all Proof ot this are the many awards won by Southport students among them was Tom Bodenreider with his three Berkshire pigs which took first honors . .W 2 1 , . . Usherettes: Joyce Gillispic Sue Utterback Sandra Dancey Nancy Lee Anita Nash Juanita Pruett Good and Lonesome was the plight of Sally Foster before Ginger, her girl friend, and her many ideas began changing her life. Sally Foster, a young teen-age girl, had no trouble with her high school studies, but boys, well, that was a different matter, Ginger tried to help her with a few brainstorms while Mr. and Mrs. Foster had to endure her ideas, Mrs. Foster's sister and her good-looking daughter from the South came for a visit and didn't help matters at all. To add to the confusion was Mr, Foster's prize cow, Beulah, and the Foster's maid, Beulah. lt all came to a head when Sally won a voice contest over the daughter of her father's employer and to a conventional happy ending as the problems were solved one by one.
