Mental T e reatest Thmg Nancy Schloemer achieved the highest honor bestowed on any senior when she was chosen viledictoriin of her class for her outstandnnq scholastic record over 1 seven semester period Nancy not only was the highest ranking senior scholastically b t also rated high n personality and leadership ability Her sublect wus A Stepping Stone Toward The Future The Senior Class of i957 will onq remember Nancy und will be encouraged by her inspiring speech The student body of Southport High School chose Nancy to represent the school on a tour of the United Nations ID New York City She was sponsored by the Student Council She vis ited the United Nations and New York City with a group of representative students from all parts of Indiana This was an entoyable and memorable experience LX -fic saw The Honor f The Year John Carmen Llnson l956 graduate of Southport High School who was second in his class is the fi t and only student from Southport ever to attain a Na tional Honor Society Scholarship John known to all a Jack competed with over twelve thousand senior Na tional Honor Society tudents from all over the United States Only three oth r students from Indiana have ever been so honored as to receive one of these schol- arships. While at Southport, Jack was President of the National Honor Society, Viceapresident of Medicu, and President and Vice-president of the Latin Clubs. He had maior roles in the Junior and Senior Plays, He wrote for the Junior Classical League and was Activities Editor for the Anchor. A freshman now at Indiana University, Jack is taking prefmcdical training. He is pledged to Phi Delta Theta and the scholastic honorary fraternity, Phi Eta Siqma. Usherettes: Joyce Gillispic Sue Utterback Sandra Dancey Nancy Lee Anita Nash Juanita Pruett Good and Lonesome was the plight of Sally Foster before Ginger, her girl friend, and her many ideas began changing her life. Sally Foster, a young teen-age girl, had no trouble with her high school studies, but boys, well, that was a different matter, Ginger tried to help her with a few brainstorms while Mr. and Mrs. Foster had to endure her ideas, Mrs. Foster's sister and her good-looking daughter from the South came for a visit and didn't help matters at all. To add to the confusion was Mr, Foster's prize cow, Beulah, and the Foster's maid, Beulah. lt all came to a head when Sally won a voice contest over the daughter of her father's employer and to a conventional happy ending as the problems were solved one by one.
