David Thoreau Bicycle Club --------Rose Presby and Bill Milford - The Bicycle Club plans trips around the North Fork of the island. Perhaps with the gas shortage, this will be the only way to go! Ski Club — Ed Wilk and Bill Kanz - The fifty members comprising the Ski Club planned an over-night trip to Hunter Mountain. Basic instructions in skill were given in the morning; in the afternoon, the skiers were left to ski on their own. 74 Archery Club — Kevin Leavay - The members of this club practiced over the standard 25 meter course, utilzing two competition 36' targets. Outing Club Arthur Wilks and Bill Christopher - Every student has many outdoor experiences. This year the Outing Club has taken some field trips to Montauk Point,Fisher's Island, and a week-end camping trip. 75 Drama Club Frank Steele - This club teaches the student how to learn to produce a play in its entirety. The students design and sew their own costumes. Sewing Club — Marcella Winters and Josephine Messina - Those who already have a basic understanding of sewing join this club to advance their skills. The advisors are more than willing to help you. 76 PRESIDENT: Bill Sharp VICE PRESIDENT: David Witherspoon TREASURER: Debbie Sisino SECRETARY: Paulette Scott Student Council ■ Richard Hilary - The student council is a group comprised of elected representatives from every class. Its purpose is to reach out and listen to their fellow students. They hear complaints, criticisms, likes and dislikes. Their goal - to make the school a more enjoyable place for all. Student Newspaper —— Virginia Schulze and Jerry O'Grady - Our school newspaper, Pizzazz, is one of the best newspapers that we have ever had. People that are part of the newspaper staff learn how to make a newspaper in its entirety. Photography Club — Bruce Staiger - Students are assigned independent projects and go out and shoot pictures. Then they develop and print them in the darkroom. 78 Radio Station WBLT — Don Fisher - Southold High School has their own closed circuit radio station. Next year they plan to have the station on FM. The students on the radio staff learn how to become disc jockeys. French Club -Susan Russo - This club was formed to help students learn more about the culture of France. The club recently had a party where everyone was taught how to prepare a French dish. 79 ChorUS ““ Bernie Aldcroft - A group of people singing together for their own enjoyment and others. They learn all the newest and most popular songs around. Jazz Lab Ken Hollowell - They go on concerts and play for different schools. Each member gets a chance to do their own thing. Douglas Constant 82 Clthl©t©S — Lloyd Clark - Congratulations to our mathletes, who are in first place. The club is in a league with three other schools: Greenport, Mattituck and Pierson. ROTC ““ This group learns about naval history, and science. In the near future they are planning on taking a field trip to Mystic, Connecticut to be introduced to the operations and equipment on a ship. 83 Library Club Pat Dzenkowski - This club helps to assist Pat in her duties in the library. The proceeds of this year's dance were donated to the War Memorial Fund. 84 Regents Scholorship Austin Dawson and Dick Schell - These students have achieved recognition for their academic performance in a state wide exam. Honor Society —• Comprised of a few students who have been merited for their high scholastic achievement throughout the academic school year. 85 Majorettes — Ken Hollowell - A group of girls who work together to perform different stunts, with their batons. They are really a great asset to our parades. Candystripers — Edith Daniels - A group of people who give their own free time helping the sick at the hospital.
