Then I uess were in the wronff for we all feel the same That the past-those years from '52-will forever be Filled with brilliant ghosts of joy to haunt our memory. There were some picnics parties too with dancing and good fun. We've had our prom and had our ball and the mystery is doneg Our magazine sales surpassed our goal, all previous records toppedg Our unforgettable Washington trip in weather nice and hot. Our yearbook now has been unveiled to meet the public eye. Graduation is approaching fastg the last farewell is nigh. Soon just a faded memory our years at Southold High- Our parents, teachers, and our friends who always were nearbyg But most of all t'Will be the friends whom we have held so dear That will remain within our hearts throughout each coming year. f 'tv af 'ti The Dead of Night Martha Baldwrn Jane Tuflhlll Joey her crrppled son Alvah Goldsmrth Sarah Wrlkrns the hrr ed help Anne Holden Donald Hull Sarahs nephew Robert Srmon Ruth Nash Donalds francee Maryory Petty Davrd Carruthers rn love wrth Martha Arthur Hart Lela Chapman the mystery Woman Dorothy Cardrnal Adam Glassett the constable Phrlrp Wentzel Jake Monroe John Wokosky On November 29 1916 an rntrrgurne three act mystery The Dead Of Nroht was presented by the senrors of South old Hrgh School The scene opened rn a Vermont farmhouse on a snowy January nreht Martha found Jake Monroe dead wrtlr a hat prn struck through hrs heart After Adam Glassett a blusterrng arrogant constable rnvestrgated the srtuatron he placed everyone rn the house under susprcron of murder Even Sarah Watkrns the eavesdropprng mard who always expressed her oprnron on everyone and everythrng drd not have much to say Joey was glad to see hrs uncle dead because of the old mans hatred toward h1'n Davrd always took Joe s srde and rn dorng so constantly fought Wrth Jake Donald Hull for some unknown reason had to have money qurckly When Monroe had refused to lend hrm the money they had a drsagree ment Allan Rrchards had also quarreled Wrth the deceased Just before hrs death Practrcally everyone rn the house had clashed Wrth Jake before hrs death Adam Glassett thought he had the murderer when Lela Chapman came to the Monroe house lookrng for her husband It had been Jakes testrmony that sent Chapman to prrson and the ex convrct had come back to krll hrm Strange events began lo take place Monroes body mysterrously drsappeared from the bedroom where rt had been placed A secret panel rn the lrvrng room then opened and the body was thrust through rt To prevent any more nonsense they locked the body rn the bedroom Followrng thrs Lela Chapman and her husband drsappeared Whrle lookrng for the Chapmans Martha drscovered that Jakes body had vanrshed avarn Joey talkrng rn the lrvrng room one mrnute was found face down on the floor dead wrth a hat prn rn hrs back the next m1nute Allan knew that there was a secret panel sonoewhere rn the house He finally drscovered rt and warted near rt patrently Soon the murderer slrpped through the panel and Allan grabbed hrm After callrng everyone rnto the room he turned the lr hts on The vrllran was none other than Adam Glassett He and Jake Monroe had been mrxed up rn the rum runnrn busrness Jake had refused to pay Glassett hrs share so Glassett krlled hrm Srnce Joey had seen the whole thrne Glassett krlled hrm too Lela Chapman rn truth a federal offrcer and Donald who had also seen the murder worked tooether rn apprehendrng the culprrt The play ends wrth a swrtch of men for Ruth She and Allan felt they loved ea h other and told Donald who took rt well Thrs play a sprne trnvlrne mystery also contarned a love trrangle Wrth Donald Ruth and Allan and a smatterrng of comedy furnrshed by Sarah Watkrns and Adam Glassett It was a Ureat success thanks to the patrent and able drrectron of Goldre and the persrstence and hard work of the cast f ,J f' ' fy- 111- , , 4, af, 4 .
