Washington' Satu1day came and wlth lt another hotel breakfast The tours started off on that warm sunny mornmg w1th a VlS1t to th Pan Amerlcan Buxldmg Colorful parlots and beautlful troplcal tlees surroundln a bronze fountam met our gaze Followmg an mterestmg tour of th1s bu1ld1ng we made our way to the Washmgton Monument Many ambltlous Semors chmbed the elght hundred mnety e1ght steps others chose the elevator ln Oldel to v1ew the c1ty at that great helght Our next destlnatlon was the White House whlch gave a cool resp1te to hot tourlsts The colorful spaclous rooms were wonderful to v1ew Aftex lunch at the hotel we toured the Capltol and thls was followed by a V1S1t to the Lxbrax y of Congress Ou1 last stop for the aftelnoon was the Jefferson Mernoxlal That evening we enjoyed one of the most thfllllflg events of the trxp-d1nne1 and floor show at the Lotus Club For entertamment durmg the evenmg most of us chose to see Clnerama Hohday Wh1Ch proved to be CXC1f,1l'1g Taxl dx1ve1s sklllfully and bxeathtakmgly dodged traH1c to speed us back to the hotel That mght few of us got much sleep wlth the sound of flymg coke bottles and flrecrackers rlngmg ln our ears Sunday Oul last day ln the natlons capltol vlas a hot one Takmg our last look at the Maltmxque we boaxded our bus to w1s1t the marvelous Sm1thson1an bu11d1n,,s vshexe we spent about an hour and a half looknig at planes dresses of the WIVES of former presldents etc We left that wonderful c1ty at noon mth a feehnff of Dllde that a Clty so mspnatxonal and beautlful 1S our caprtol and wlth a feellng of gxatltude that the opportumty of v1s1t1ng thlS splendld cxty was afforded us 27 Cz Y W Q fx 3 vi Q ' . lg l A gt Q o

A The April Eves We Did The Town .... if Destination APRIL 26 A red letter day' The strllness of the early mornrng was drsturbed by the racrng of cars to meet the 6 O4 tram Thrrty four sleepy Senrors boarded the L I R R to speed then way to Washrngton D C Our rarlroad representatrve Mr Eugene Sherman met us rn Pennsylvanra Statron Arrrvrng at Annapolrs Maryland rn the afternoon we toured the caprtol burldrng and then vrsrted the Naval Academy Those unrforms are really neat' Our destrnatron the Hotel Martrnrque was reached at 5 30 pm A delrghtful drnner was served us an hour later That nrght we enjoy ed a wonder ful moonlrght sarl along the Potomac There were over two thousand senrors from many schools aboard and most of them had southern accents The boat stopped at a rrvely amus ment park whrch provrded hrlarrous rrdes anc good food Comrng back from the sarl our bus drrver took us through the grgantrc Pentagon Burldrng at one oclock rn the mornrng After a few hours sleep Frrday mornrng found us attemptrng to eat breakfast at 7 30 a m rn the drnrng room Followrng breakfast we went to the Bureau of Prrntrng and Engravrng wrth all those crrsp ten dollar brlls starrng, us rn the face' Rock Creek Park wrth all rts monkeys and other anrmals provrded many laughs Next we vrsrted tne Lee House where we saw rnterestrng old fashroned rooms Arlrngton Cemetery and rts Tomb of the Unknown Soldrer showed us what a. terrrble drsaster war really rs We watched the rmpressrve changmg of the guard there At noon on Frrday we ate wonderful food at Hogates Restaurant The atmosphere really helped our ap petrtes After drnner our bus drrver Mr Fr nk Sherman skrllfully drove us to Mount Vernon We toured the beautrful home and rts rollrng grounds Followrng drnner at the hotel many of us went to a baseball game or to the movres srnce our evenrng was free 26 V I , W..
