.XZ .,,,, V, Our True Blue And White Grew Mth The Color Red he traditional colors at Southington High have been blue and white for many years. This year, 1985-86, the color red was introduced into our scenario. The two main areas of this addition were in the sports and band uniforms. Various sports teams and the Marching Band had the color red used as an accent to their uniforms, mostly in outlining. The red seems to have warmed up the appearances and raised the spirit i and pride of these two groups of students. X ,- Ylflld Far Left: Senior, Mike Early strides toward 133,-ix finish line. Our Little Apple he Apple Harvest Festival was held from October 5th through the 13th, in Downtown Southington on the green and in the vicinity. The Festival first began in the Fall of 1969 and at that time there were a King and Queen, who represented the town. This year the queen was Loryn Lindquist, and her court, the hostesses, were Melinda Silva, Lisa Kozlowski, Kacy Palmieri, Carol Toffolon, Kerry Andrews, Lisa Tangney, Stephanie Maccio and Tracy Rich. To many citizens of Southington, the Apple Harvest Festival has become a tradition. Over the years it has grown into a festival of fun, arts and crafts, delicious foods and the annual Apple Harvest Parade. Some of the attractions are the Bed Races, with a bed called Shalom as the 1985 winner, Family Night and the Battle of the Bands. The band taking first place in 1985 was called Rockstra. Such delights as apple fritters, apple rings, conestoga steak and pepper sandwiches, fried dough, bratwurst, clam chowder and various other foods were served to the eagerly awaiting crowds. Also on Saturday, Oct. 12th and Sunday, October 13th, there was a wide assortment of venders and people selling articles ranging from clay figures to paintings, to puppets and artificial flower arrangements. These people had come to participate in the Festival and enjoyed being a part of a tradition. All who participate and come to enjoy hope this Wonderful event will continue for many years to come. It brings fall to Southington in a most delightful form. sm, 0 fp a15'T ',5 Tr nk . T 4 .tsigif- 1 L' 'W ' -fs' - si M ,gi A 1. V . E We o ' 45J - wi Tall oaks from little acorns grow 7
