jfs. . ,N 'Z' 1 a guiding light to break the darkness When you're in a real bind in school where do you go? Well, the school provides a capable and helpful staff in a department very appropriately labeled Guidance. The Guidance counselors are a great source of in- formation for course selection, col- lege choice, career requirements and advice for personal problems. Essen- tially, Guidance is a service dedi- cated to help students understand themselves and their opportunities, and to help them make decisions. Other services are offered to aid stu- dents on the academic level. One ex- ample is the English Department's Writing Lab. Writing is essential and important in all aspects of life and this Lab is offered to help students improve their writing and communi- cating skills. lf a student feels he needs this help or that he would learn more in a one-to-one teacherfstu- dent situation he voluntarily reports to the Wirting Lab. The other aca- demic aid offered ,to students is the Language Fiesource Center spon- sored by the Language Department. The center, located in the library, of- fers a variety of resources for foreign language students. lt is a drop in situ- ation much like the Writing Lab and an alternative for the library or cafe- teria during a study period.
