The majority of the faculty members teach these courses in the Academic curriculum. Each ot the individual academic de- partments offers a variety of choices to fill the requirements of S,H.S. The Science Department offers courses from Anatomy and Meteorology to Biology and Chemistry. The Math Department offers courses from Al- gebra and Geometry to Statistics and Calculus. ln the English Depart- ment one can study courses ranging from Drama to Logic to Shakespeare to each level of standard English. In the Language Department one can study German, Latin, French, and Spanish. The Social Studies Depart- ment offers courses on a sundry of topics such as Geography, Sociolo- gy, China, and U.S. History. Many students, though, do not real- ize that this academic curriculum provides a wide-ranged background needed for every day life and the ba- sis for becoming a well-rounded indi- vidual. The student wishing to contin- ue on to college must have the back- ground necessary to meet entrance requirements that these courses pro- vide. By indulging in the academics we are not only making our minds brighter but our futures as well. Joseph Daddio Business Dept. Alphonse D'Angelo Language Dept. Cynthia Davey Business Dept. -'Hit' reiiections of T creativity For those students who drift toward the more imaginative and creative outlets in life, there are many creative opportunities in the Music and Art Departments. The Art Department offers a variety of ways to let off cre- ative steam which builds up in the more straight-laced courses. Courses range from pottery to draw- ing and painting to design and pho- tography, as well as advanced classes for the more serious artist. The Music curriculum, too, allows an opening for creative flow from Mixed Chorus or Concert Choir to playing an instrument in the band either Con- cert, Marching, or Stage. For the more serious musician there is also an indepth Music Theory class. Many of the other departments also provide creative outlets. The English Department offers Drama and Cre- ative Writing for imaginative students to pursue. The Home Economics De- partment provides students with courses such as Creative Clothing. Creativity and imagination are en- couraged in every department to be nurtured by the student even after he leaves high school. A creative mind is an active one! Nz.
