The four year science curriculum at Southing- ton High School starts with earth science and general science followed in the next year by biology. As juniors and seniors, the students are offered the lab sciences-chemistry, physics, and advanced biology. MATHEMATICS Math is a dynamic department. There is no exception here at Southington. These revolutions have not changed the basics of mathg rather they have strengthened the bond between its con- cepts and life. Many students and teachers alike, have found this transition to new approaches a diflicult one to undergo. It has required, in some instances, a reversal of the reasoning they have long been accustomed to employing. Yet these difficulties cannot keep math from surging forward. The numerous math courses at Southington include subjects from Business Math to Trigono- metry. The modern world has enlarged the need for a sound math background.
