Academic English, designed for college pre- paratory students, emphasizes American and English literature. Standard English, while similar to Academic, serves a wider range of students. General English stresses grammar and writing. In addition to English, Southington High offers Creative writing and Public speaking. These are senior courses. The former, offered to those with an eighty-five per cent or better average in English, provides an exacting pro- gram of written expression.
