If all guidance meant was selecting a career, then Southington High, at a slight expense could install an IBM computer in the lobby, push a button and out comes an aptitude test and a college catalogue. It doesn't work that way how- ever. Machines today solve quadratic equations, compute the weight of the earth, and even pre- dict presidential elections but they can't listen patiently to the problems of young people and offer understanding and offer help. This is why Superintendent John Farr has en- listed the aid of two men, Raymond Walsh and William Snow. Together they have attempted to unmuddle the muddled adolescence-adulthood of several hundred seniors and shape some kind of direction into their lives. To them the class of '65 is thankful. The Bates bound student is Brian Heller, while Bob Nigro is still making his choice. 11 Mr. Walsh helps student in college selection.

Southington High tries to develop not only the academic aspect of the student but also strives for the creation of a mature adult. Our curriculum has been expanded greatly in our four short years here. The addition of Sociology, Creative Writing, Public Speaking, Italian, and a new Vocational Agriculture building have helped to inhance our facilities. Yet rising above the course of instruction are our dedi- cated teachers, keenly aware of the needs of the individual student.
