Students have their choice of studying Wood Shop, Metal Shop, Art, Arts and Crafts, and Mechanical Draw- ing. Each of these areas of study boast sufficient facili- ties, allowing the student to create anything from a bookshelf to an abstract drawing. The actual application of what is learned in 'textbooks or from instructors permits the student to see how his abilities are pro-- gressing, something which is not possible in some courses of study. ...I .....i... aa... ,-.a.a.u.Ms.am-waummq.-A.-L 1

ELIZABETH ZILLY MCNERNEY University of Connecticut IITIFHHCUMFQ College, B- S- Columbia University, B. S. Home and Family Living, Homemaking I, 11 Homemaking I The family is the most essential unit, yet few areas are so taken for granted. Home Economics is a course to fulfill this basic requirement - to prepare high school girls for family living. The course is as prodigous as it is necessary. The curriculum comprises units in foods and nutrition, housing, home furnishings and home equipment, clothing, child care, growth and development, family health, family economics, personal and family relationships of the family, and other advantages. The problems studied are derived from the needs and interests of the girls served in this given area of education. The course provides experiences which will fit girls for better adjustments and greater service to those with whom she has contact in her home, school, and community. I i S 2 E Q
