X f 143, I 154 FIELD HOCKEY CLUB In Septembepa Field' Hockey was organized for all girls The club was divided into 2 classes, the intramural and the honor varsity, The Intramural club consisted of five teams that played against one another every Thursday afternoon. The Honor Varsity team consisted of fifteen girls who practiced 2 afternoons during the week. The team had 2 games, Bloomfield game was tied 1-lg and the Simsbury game we lost, 5-0. The girls chosen to play on the honor varsity team were: Shirley Gemmell, Ann Slack, Rosalie Pizzitola, Maggie O'Hala, Loretta Witowski, Jeanne Gelinas, Judy Kashir, Ginny Goggin, Gerry Feeney, Carol Orrill, Claudia Judd, Robert Moulton, Nancy White, Managers: Betty Lou Wilkeyson, Judy Musto. 525937 aw ' ff!! f lg lygyfff V M11 f ff 1 11f - lc ' f .-,f.,,:X as ' ' , X1 K6 . A tournament was held and the co-champs were Rhoda Prescher and Frances Smedberg. TRACK AND FIELD TEAM The first Track and Field Team was organized in the spring of 1955 bl' Miss Carroll. All girls who were inter- able to participate. The girls met once a weekfon Thursday, to practice. In May the Track and Field Team attended a Meet in Litchfield. I w ,Lf BASKETBALL The Honor Varsity Girls' Team had a very successful season. The record was four wins and one defeat. At the annual Sports Day, the Southxngton Girls won all three of their games beating Woodbury, Newington, and Litchfield. The Varsity Team consisted of Loretta Witowski, Rosalie Pizzitola, Arlene LePage, Maggie O'Hala, Mary Ann Walonoski, Ann Slack, Shirley Gemmell, Gerry Feeney, Ruth England, Loretta Kuhr, Roberta Moulton, Claudia Judd, Virginia Ellsworth, Emily Zawisa, Nancy White. The manager was Rhoda Prescher. On Thursday nights, the intramural tournament was held. Every Thursday afternoon an intramural tournament During the A softball clinic were taught the was held. During the l955 season, Southington played Newington High and won by the score -li-52. BOWLING CLUB The Girls' Bowling Club meets on Monday afternoon at the Southington Bowling Alleys. The club is divided into groups and these groups always bowl together. At the end of the year a tournament was held among the Southington girls. At this tournament- the highest bowler for the year was given an award and the high scorers and the team with the highest average for the day were also given prizes. ZF! 51 mlm. ste
