J u n iors SCENE I The Students Choice We elected Joseph DePaolo presidentg John Simone, vice-president, John England, secretary, and Ruth Niebling, treasurer. SCENE II Cheers and Tears Junior boys helped the football team to a suc- cessful season. They were cheered on by those lovely ladies of the Junior Class Lois Butler, Charlotte Brodowy, Marla Handy, Ann Carol Joy, and Jean Mastrianni, SCENE III Junior Reporters Carol Wasielak was chosen assistant editor of the Emblem, other Juniors on the Emblem Board were James Conaty, Drusilla Tanner, Joe DePaolo, Joe Bruno, and Judy Tews. Lois Butler was Junior Class Reporter. SCENE IV Winter Carnival We held our Junior Prom on December 8. The committees worked hard and as a result our prom was a success. The heavenly music of Charlie Don- nelly's Orchestra added to the charm of the evening. SCENE V Best Team Yet The '52 Basketball Team had a successful season which was climaxed by a tournament berth. Junior boys who aided the team in its success were Hank Brooks, Jim Conaty, Joe DePaolo, Jerry Dlugos, John Fenney, Mike Mauro, Dave Morse, Dick Patz, and Jack Willis. SCENE VI Heaps of Honors The following were made members of the Honor Society - Joseph Abata, Joan Albrycht, Charlotte Brodowy, John Costa, Marion Dashukewich, Robert Deckert, Roger Hubeny, Eleanor Maigarie, Richard Patz, Jean Mastrianni, Drusilla Tanner, and Carol Wasielak. The first duty of these new members was to choose two girls and two boys to go to Girls' and Boys' State. They chose Jean Mastrianni, Sally Fol- cik, Joseph Abata and Richard Patz. . SCENE VII Junior Recital ' Winners of the Junior Recital were Janet Thuotte and Joseph DePaolo. Other participants were Helen Miller, Edna Schipke, Joseph' Abata, and Richard Patz. S e niors SCENE I Senior Balloting The Senior Class cast their ballots for class offi- cers. Joseph Abata was elected president, Roger Hubeny, vice-president, Judith Tews, secretary, and James Conaty, treasurer. SCENE II Emblem Staff Carol Wasielak became the editor of the Emblem. Other members of the staff were Jean Mastrianni, Joe Bruno, Joe DePaolo, Dick Patz, Ruth Niebling, Barbara Dawson, Sally Folcik, Drusilla Tanner, and Judy Tews. Eleanor Maigarie was Senior Editor. SCENE III Class Yearbook When the yearbook committee held their first meeting, Mary Ann Bosch was chosen editor and Judy Tews, assistant editor. SCENE IV There's Music in the Air The new members of the Minstrels were Jean Mongillo, Joanne Carpentier, Eleanor Dighello, Edna Schipke, and Phil Pomposi. Senior members of the Minstrels chosen to go to All State were Drusilla Tanner, Dorothy Kiefer, and Priscilla Standish. SCENE V Calling All Cars At last came our chance to display our dramatic ability. The talented ones chosen to be in the Senior Play were Edna Schipke, Janet Thuotte, Priscilla Standish, Helen Miller, Carol Wasielak, Eleanor Dig- hello, Bonnie Hayes, Joyce Laribee, Phil Pomposi, David Florian, Robert Deckert, and Joseph Abata. SCENE VI Will You Be My Valentine In February the Seniors sponsored their annual Valentine's Dance. The King and Queen and their Court were selected as usual from the student body. SCENE VII Commencement After the Senior Farewell Dance and the Senior Prom came Graduation. Although we were glad to graduate we still didn't like to think that all the fun of high school was now behind us. But now we have finished high school and this play is completed.

S eptember 1949 - June 1950 Characters ....,. i.i.i..,....,,....................., F reshmen SCENE I The Very Beginning Our first day of school as Freshmen. We walked up the hill and entered Lewis High School to begin high school life. SCENE Il Election of Officers The class of '53 assembled for the first time to elect class officers. Joseph DePaolo was chosen presi- dent, Michael Mauro, vice president, William Barbier, secretary, and Philip Pomposi, treasurer. Jean Mast- rianni was voted freshman editor of the Emblem. ' SCENE III Welcome Half-Pints Initiation into high school life. Even though we were treated like Freshmen, a good time was had by all. SCENE IV Self-Government Joseph Bruno, Joseph DePaolo, Dale Gemmal and Joyce Laribee were chosen as our representatives in the Student Council. SCENE V How About That Curly? I The class was unsuccessful in its first magazine drive. However, Joanne Carpentieri restored our honor by winning the portable television set. SCENE VI Freshmen Champions Remember that great football team of '49? The Freshmen players might not have been stars, but we remember Dave Callahan, Harris Crandall, Dale Gem- mal, Rog Hubeny, Herman Norton, Rich Patz, George Weaver, and Charles Wendt. ' SCENE V11 Summer Is Just Around The Corner Exams are over, worries are through, and we are no longer Freshmen. ACT II Setting . ...,..,.,........,... Southington High Time ........,,.. f ..... September 1950 - June 1951 Characters ....... ,...,,...,.........,.......,... S ophomores SCENE I The Southington High School Everything in a beautiful new high school was strange to us, but as the days went by we became accustomed to our new surroundings and settled down to life as Sophomores. SCENE II Sophomore Leaders The class of '53 chose Joseph DePaolo as presi- dent, Joseph Bruno, vice president, Sally Folcik, sec- retaryg and David Morse, treasurer. Charlotte Brod- owy was Emblem Reporter. ' SCENE III Sophomore Musical Geniuses The Sophomores had two representatives in the Minstrels. The talent of Joyce Laribee and Drusilla Tanner added much to the group. SCENE IV Government of the Student, by the Students and for the Students Sophomore members of the Student Council were Hank Brooks, Joseph Bruno, Joseph DePaolo, Joyce Laribee, Richard Patz, and John Simone. SCENE V Our First Gala Affair The Class of ,53 decided to sponsor a dance. In December we decorated the gym with mistletoe and sponsored The Mistletoe Hop. SCENE VI Extra Activities , - Sophomores participated in various activities, among them Pep Club, Bowling Club, Majorettes, Latin Club, and Projectionists. Many Sophomore boys participated in sports and did a fine job. We were still not successful in our attempt to win first place in the Magazine Drive.
