The student replies cautiously, Forty-six? Correct! The teacher heartily approves. For the first time in three years of geometry He has answered one right! Next door the human adding machines are busily at work. Across the hall the class is in a heated argument over what x is. Here in the Math Department students are acquiring knowledge which will greatly aid them in the future.

This year, the main project of the society was the broadcasting of a I weekly radio program on station WDJS in Mount Olive. The highlight of the year was the annual spring banquet. The Math Club is designed to further interest in mathematics and to reveal career opportunities in the field of math. Projects of this year ' s group included making bulletin boards for the Math Club advisors and devising multiplication tables for the special education students. They also made a polar graph for the math department. Student teachers at Southern Wayne lectured to the group on math courses in college.
