Serving as a unifying and governing body for clubs, the Inter-Club Council was composed of the presidents from each of Southern Wayne ' s clubs. The body acted as a “clearing house” for club activities and projects. It provided a meeting ground for the presidents to discuss any problems the clubs might be having and maybe find helpful solutions.

The Social Studies Department aided students in recognizing their responsibilities in our municipal, state, and federal governments, and therefore, in world affairs. World history teachers promoted the study of other cultures. Geography was the study of lands and populations. Sociology and Civics students were geared to the discovery of society ' s structure. United States history courses taught students the background, form, and problems of our country. Movies such as “Fail Safe” and “1984 gave students glimpses of our possible future.

' ' 3 The candy sale had two purposes; the first, raising the necessary funds for our chapter of American Field Service to sponsor a foreign exchange student here at Southern Wayne; the second, to assist in financing the yearbook. The sale, a complete success. fulfilled both its purposes.
