YOUNG WOMEN'S CHRISTIAN ASSOCIATION The Young VVomen,s Christian Association at Southern Seminary is proud of the fact that it is a charter member of the National Student YWCA, having received its charter in 1906. For almost sixty years it has been an important factor in forming the traditions of the school and ir1 building character and social responsibility in the stude11ts. It is also a source of pride to the organization that it has always had one hundred per cent membership of the student body. For this reason each student participates in religious and philan- thropic activities, the sponsorship of the Cancer, Polio, and World University Service Drives, the Christmas Bazaar, which is the largest and most important project undertaken by the YWCA, and the filling of Christmas stockings for the underprivileged children. The two Candlelight Services at the beginning and at the closing of school are undertaken by the YWCA, as are the reception for the new students and the annual Halloween Party. The YIVCA also takes care of the Thanks- giving baskets for underprivileged families and is always ready to participate in any worthy project requiring donations to charity. The Sunday Evening Vesper Program and Little Vespers on Wednes- day nights are under the direction of the YWVCA, through which the Association hopes to bring a deeper knowledge of God in the lives of every Seminary girl. The YWCA Cabinet is the executive organization for the group as a whole and directs its many and varied activities. The Governing Board is composed of these Cabinet members with the President of the YWCA serving as President of the Governing Board. MRS. EDWARD HARDIN .... . ....
