XVhen the Atheuians and Cornelians elect their representatives to the Athle- tic Board, they are selecting the girls who, in their minds, uphold their highest ideals of clean playing and good sportsmanship. G?ll!Z6lZidIZ5 The Athenian was founded in 1906 as a literary organization, when debates and essays were the order of the day and about the only form of exercise a young lady could properly take. About thirty years ago when women were becoming emancipatecl the interests of its members turned to sports. Fortunately the Greek name, chosen originally for its association with books and art and culture, is equally appropriate in its suggestion of physical litness and athletic prowess. Each year one half of the student body are wearers of the green and strive valiantly to meet and out tight the Cornelians in every sport-major and minor- on the campus. Miss GARNET Hmes .....
