Kyles On November 17, 1911, Dr. Ernest Just, Edgar Love, Frank Coleman, and Oscar Copper founded the Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc., at Howard University in Washington, D. C. On March 9, 1936, Beta Sigma Chapter of Southern University was founded. Our motto is 11F riendship is essential to the Soul? With this motto the founders also set forth our four cardinal principles by which all Omega men attempt to live: Manhood, Scholarship, Persever- ance and Uplift. ll 87

Rho Chapter was established at Southem'University April 20, 1932, thus becoming the first social Greek orgapization on campus. This organization, which promotes ideals of hBrotherhood? Scholarship? and hServicef was quite active during the past year promoting its three maj or programs: Bigger and Better Business, Education, and Social Action.
