Jenkins Cbrresponding Secretary E. Chambers Dean of Pledgees 0. Richard Delta Sigma Theta was founded at Howard University in 1913. The twenty-two young women who were its founders e'nvisioned an organization of college women that would mini- mize the purely social aspects of sorority life. Today women of all races and faiths who meet the requirements in character, scholarship, and citizenship responsibility are welcomed into membership in Delta Sigma Theta. From the small original group, Delta has grown to embrace 20,000 women with 240 chapters in 46 states and the Republic of Haiti. 83

Alexander, Henry T. Asher, Dr. Marcus P. Blake- more, Paul Caine, Edward Irvin, and George W. Edmund founded Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity in Bloomington, Indiana. Alpha Sigma Chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi was founded at Southern F ebruary 22, 1965. This chapter has perpetuated the noble doctrines of Kappa Alpha Psi, for the men of Alpha Sigma Chapter have played an instrumental part in the student life of Southern University for the past thirty years.
