The Pierian Club was established by the English Department at South- ern University in 1953 for the pur- pose of stimulating and developing richer aesthetic values through the dis- cussion and exchange of ideas and through the formation of satisfying literary acquaintances. Membership is open to all English majors, minors, and other interested students. The theme of the Pierian Club is ttCultural stimulation through intellectual growth? Piericm Club Marketing Society The Marketing Society was founded here at South- ern University in 1964 by Marketing majors. It is com- posed of students interested in the field of iMarketing. The JFK Association of Southern University was orig- inated in honor of the 35th President of the United States, John F. Kennedy. The Association functions as an instrument through which the members can bet- ter promote interest in cam- pus, local, state,.national and international poiitics; study the meaning and life of the 35th President and his con- tributions t0 the world; and acquaint its members with a knowledge of political parties and functions, so that they may become aware of their political and social needs. I.F.K. Association Female Glee Club The Southerh University Womenis Glee Club is one of the many ensembles of the Di- vision of Music. Its main pur- pose is to give young women both inside and outside of the division an opportunity to en- joy music as well as gain the experience of performing some of the world,s best music. The Psychology Club is composed of students in- terested in the field of Psychology. The functions of the group are to bring speakers on special sub- jects to the campus, and to provide an area of dis- cussion on current topics. The responsibilities of the Student SNEA program are to provide opportunities for personal and profes- sional growth, development of leadership skills, un- derstanding of the history, ethics, and programs at state and national levels, and participation in profes- sional activities at local, state, and national levels, especially integrating programs of local associations and student education association.
