Administration DEAN E. W. BASHFUL Message From the Dean The year 1965 marks the fifty-first anniversary of Southern University on its present site at Baton Rouge. Southern University in New Orleans is proud to be a part of an institution which has served so well for half a century. That Southern University has contributed significantly to this region, raising the level of culture and aspiration of its people, is beyond question. That as its fifty-first year unfolds, its most productive years are before it, is likewise very obvious. Thus, the second half century may well be a period of challenge and response unlike anything in its first fifty years. For the new social milieu as well as the technological age presently emerging will present challenges which will call for new approaches as well as fresh and daring responses. This is the age of expectancy in terms of achievements of students, teachers, and alumni. Southern University in New Orleans joins with the Southern family in accepting the challenge which its establishment brings and pledging that it will plan its program to bring about the desired response in the space age.
