It is a functioning organiza- tion made up of students who are dedicated to journalistic perfection. It serves as a vehicle for communicating information and ideals. It seeks to integrate activities and opinions in the vein of the philosophy and objectives of the University. It helps to perpetuate those ideals which make Southern a progressive institution. Moreover, it gives students an opportunity to gain valuable knowledge in the practical application of journalis- tic techniques. The Digest Staff is composed of students solely. The Editor is selected by the student body in the general election; all other positions on the staff- news, features, sports, social lifew-are open to all students with or without journalistic background.
