Wills Gamma Sigma Sigma National Service Sorority was founded in New York, in 1952. Alpha Delta Chapter was established on Southern Universityhs campus in March, 1959. Its motto is ttFriendship, Service, and Equality? The purpose of Gamma Sigma Sigma is to assemble college and university women in the spirit of service to humanity. Since Gamma Sigma Sigma is based on service, it is the policy of the sorority to embrace members of all races and creeds, provided that they fulfill the requirements of the national sorority and the chapter.

It is a functioning organiza- tion made up of students who are dedicated to journalistic perfection. It serves as a vehicle for communicating information and ideals. It seeks to integrate activities and opinions in the vein of the philosophy and objectives of the University. It helps to perpetuate those ideals which make Southern a progressive institution. Moreover, it gives students an opportunity to gain valuable knowledge in the practical application of journalis- tic techniques. The Digest Staff is composed of students solely. The Editor is selected by the student body in the general election; all other positions on the staff- news, features, sports, social lifew-are open to all students with or without journalistic background. This is a proud organization and it constantly strives to live up to its motto: iiSentinel of an enlightened Student Body? CHARLES SILER Associate Editor and Cartoonist
