Pi Gamma Mu Pi Gamma Mu, the National Social Science Honor Society, was founded in 1942 at the College of William and Mary; years later, the Louisiana Epsilon Chapter was established on the campus of Southern University. The purpose of Pi Gamma Mu is to improve scholarship in the social sciences and to achieve synthesis therein; and to inspire social service to humanity by an intelligent approach-to the solution of social problems. Huckaby, Hilry J ones, Vincent Pitre, Victoria Powell, Maggie St. Cyr, J anet Temple, Sandra Kyles, Joseph PiMuE Pi Mu Epsilon is an honorary fraternity composed of both undergraduates and graduates. Brown Ever McWright Mabel Martin Otto Sampson Kappa Delta Pi Lurlee Coleman Hattie White Dorothy Jean Wills Joseph Wilson Alpha Kappa Delta National Sociological Honor Society was founded under the leadership of Dr. Emory S. Borgadus of the University of Southern Cali- fornia in 1920. The organization is a non-secret, democratic, national honor society which is oriented toward the promotion of qnterests in Sociology, research in social problems, and activities leading.to human welfare? The chapter at Southern University, Gamma, was last to be established in Louisiana. It was awarded during the spring semester of the 1964-65 school year, and the official charter date was May 18, 1964. Kappa Delta Pi was organized on March 8, 1911, and incorporated June 8, 1911, under the law of the State of Illinois as the honorary educational fraternity. In 1932, this title was changed to Kappa Delta Pi, an Honor Society in Education. Eta Mu Chapter of Kappa Delta Pi was established at Southern University May 16, 1952. Kappa Delta Pi, an organization of Education majors, seeks to encourage sincere endeavor in the field of Education. Membership is reserved to students who achieve superior academic records. The organization sponsors educational activities and programs. There are approximately 20 members on campus, including undergraduates and faculty members.

Brigadiers The First R.O.T.C. Briga- diers consists of cadets in the basic course and advanced course R.O.T.C. The group was organized during the spring semester of 1959, with Dr. Dorsey as director. The purpose of the Brigadiers is to bring together R.O.T.C. cadets in the fellowship of song. A.U.S.A. The AUSA strives to provide incentives for increasing military skills and adding to the gen- eral military back- ground. Its members participate in ceremon- ies and related activities which will enhance their respect and devotion to the United States. They alSo acquire information about the place of the Army in the defense of the nation that can be passed on to other stu- dents and to citizens gen- erally associated under favorable circumstances with fellow cadets and military personnel who consider patriotism an important attribute of character, and cooperate in furthering thm aims and objectives of the Association of the United States Army.
