Whether it be studying, talking to others, or on the pnone ... Intramural sports are very popular on campus. The activities gave everyone a chance to let off steam and forget about classes for a while ... 103 ... Southern Tech’s Goat Night is always a series of physical events and it pits groups of students vs. other groups. No matter what the outcome is, everybody has a good time... .,. The 1982 Southern Tech Baseball team finished the season with a record of 28 wins and 415 losses. Seven of the losses were by one run which indicates how close the team came to having a really outstanding season, The lack of depth on the pitching staff hurt the team through- out the season. With several experienced players returning plus the addition of several new pitching prospects, the Hornets are determined to return to the District 25 Play-offs in 1983. Southwestern Piedmont Georgia College 143 144 In the 1984-82 season, Southern Tech’s Runnin’ Hornets won their 5th straight District 25 title. They were led by Billy Bromell and Baxter Thomas who both joined the Thousand Point Club with Billy being named Co-District player of the year and Honorable Mention All-American for the second straight year. High jumping center Ricky Hudson led the entire NAIA in Field Goal Percentage with 70.1% and was also named Honorable Mention All-American. All-in-all the Hornet’s held their own against the toughest schedule in school history.
