GUIDING CDUR STEPS Not many experiences in life are more baffling to the Christian than to be faced with a perplexing problem and to be unable to find clear assurance as to what God's leading is. Life is complex, and sometimes helpl is greatly needed. Disturbed days and sleepless nights are experienced sometimes in the process of trying to discover God's will, but for the sincere listening Christian the revelation will surely come. First of all let us face the fact that God does not reveal His plans for all His children in precisely the same way, whether it be sacred or secular work, permanent ortemporary. So let not wbe dismayed if the signs direct- ing us are not exactly the same as someone else has found and followed, for God deals with people individually. Possibly the most perplexed person is thet young man or woman em - barking on plans for careers. The night career for the Christian is of im- portance, for the wrong education or the wrong start inbusiness or the professions may entail great Aloss in time, money, and courage. If a person is planning to take a long, important journey, he will study road maps carefully, enlist the aid of widely-traveled friends, consult travel bureaus and so forth: for he will profit by the experience of those who have studied and been the way before. How necessary, therefore, that in the spiritual realm we should seek guidance of the Great Leader who knows ,M N the pitfalls, hazards, and also the strengths and weaknesses of those making journeys. it We need p to remember that guidance is not something which is accom- plished once and all. The Lord's leading is not limited to times of crisis of emergency, such as might occur only two or three times in a life- time. Divine guidance is a daily need and as important as food. i Gordon E. Miner, President of College 6

DIRECTING OUR PATHS In all thy ways acknowledge Him and He shall direct thy paths. Proverbs 3: 6 The word path, as referred to in the text, speaks of a course of life. On life's journey there are many paths that one may choose, but there is only one that affords true happiness and finally leads to a glorious destination. This path has been prepared by God and is in reach of every one who will follow Him. In order to find this path, it is necessary not only to have a general belief in Christ as Saviour, but also to commit our will completely to Him who marked out the Way. It is He who has promised to lead us in the way of life everlasting. Southern Pilgrim College is dedicated to the tasklof guiding young people in securing a good education, but the main emphasis is acquainting them with the spiritual forces which are vital to life here and hereafter. Best wishes and prayers for Southern Pilgrim College and especially for the Graduates of 1961! Wray J. Smith, Pastor of College Church 8
