EARL M. HUTCHINSON PRINCIPAL ADMIN ISTRATIO A MESSAGE FROM THE PRINCIPAL MVTI IN THE YEARS AHEAD September enrollment, I962, was the largest ever -347 students. With more than twice as many appli- cants as can be admitted, a high quality student body can be selected. It is expected that MVTI can easily double its enrollment in the next few years, provided adequate financial support is given by the State, particularly in personnel, equipment, and supplies. The annexation of the Air Guard property has made it possible for MVTI to expand its building facilities. The old hospital has been renovated into a dormitory and the large barracks structure partially converted into a classroom building. A new dining hall and kitchen is expected to be completed for use in September, 1963. Building plans include many requests of future Legislatures. Early priorities are the completion of the Classroom Building and the erection of a Gymnasium-Auditorium-Recreation Center. The latter, when completed, will permit the present Canteen to be converted into a central library. The present kitchen and dining room is destined, with renovations, to be- come part of the Culinary Arts course. The old class- room building will become the temporary headquarters of Electronics Technology until such time as a new brick building can be obtained to house both the Electrical and Electronics courses. New courses prob- ably will require new buildings to house them. It is hoped that the Machine Shop addition will finally be completed within a year and that a class- room addition to the Welding Shop will soon be well under way. Undoubtedly, as school population grows, more additions to existing buildings will be needed. A new porch for Varney Hall, removal of bunkers with accompanying landscaping, and the completion of the athletic field should produce an attractive campus. To the members of this graduating class: you have seen some changes in your two years at MVTI, come back in ten years and see the progress. -wiln..,....,..,, ELLIOTT B. MITCHELL 4 MAURICE V.
