DEDICATIO fi- gl. ROMULUS LEE GRAVES The Senior Class of T963 dedicates this issue of the TEKS with sincere affection to Romulus Graves, perhaps better known to his students as Yogi, and to the faculty as Rom. Mr. Graves, a native of North Carolina, was graduated from Guilford College, North Carolina, in 'I940 with a B.S. in Physics. It was there that he met his wife who graduated in the same class. Taking time out from playing baseball and football, he managed to visit her home in Maine. From that moment on, Mr. Graves became a converted Yankee. The South's loss was our multiplied gain as they now have three fine children-one boy and two girls. The records show graduate work in the School of Electrical Engineering at Harvard University, and studies in the Signal Corps Radar School, Camp Murphy, Florida. During World War II, Mr. Graves was a Maior in the U.S, Army Signal Corps attached to the Air Force. He taught numerous short courses in theory and maintenance of airborne radio and radar. Mr. Graves has been an instructor at MVTI since its beginning in Augusta in 1946. He first taught mathematics and science, prior to becoming the Industrial Electricity Instructor. He, with Jim Johnson, originated the first Athletic Associa- tion. Mr. Graves coached the first baseball teams, and even made all the original bats. Being an enthusiastic archer, he founded the Archery Club of which he is still the faculty advisor. He plays softball on the faculty team annually and for the IE team when needed. As anyone from IE can tell you, his home is always open to those who need extra scholastic help. A sincere Thank you to one whose efforts have helped the school and the students to grow, each in his own way. 2
