This Solehian is dedicated to South- ern Lehigh, our Alma Mater. But it is not inscribed to a mere building, for we the Class of '62 have come to realize that Southern Lehigh is truly more than stone and steel. It is an emotional experience--a once in a life time experience. lt is a friendship, a basketball game, a memorable evening, aband rehearsal, afieldtrip, an assembly--all this and much more. We know, too, that in future years we will look back at Southern Lehigh as a pleasant memory and a recollection of good times passed. And if in this Solehian we can but give you a glimpse of that reminiscence, if we can but stir in you a certain nostal- giag then we shall have accomplished our long- range purpose. But the immediate value of this volume is a light one: to give youalittle sketch by which to remember a close friend, a picture you can laugh about with your classmates. But the longer you have it, the more you will treasure it for the memories it contains 5 and the more it will be worth to you. For these rewards, we on the yearbook staff have worked long andhard to publish this edition of the Solehiang We hope you will long cherish it. Hebe- gan teaching in Coopersburg in 1931 as a social studies and French teacher. When he became prin- cipal of Coopersburg School, he continued to teach French. Later, as supervising principal, he gave up his positionas a faculty member. Soon after be- coming supervising principal he became amember of the graduate faculty at Lehigh University where he had earlier received his Master's Degree. It is interesting to note that all school construction in this district except for the original Coopersburg building, dated 1909, has been completed under his administration. We the Class of '62 sincerely hope that Mr. Wat- kins' next twenty-five years may be as fruitful and worthwhile as his last. PRINCIPAL Mr. Reiter graduated from Muhlenberg College with a Bachelor of Science Degree, from Columbia University with a Master of Arts Degree, and took additional courses at Le- high University. He started teaching in the Lower Milford Township. He then taught science and mathematics at Red Hill Junior High School in 1943. He started teaching science at Coopersburg HighSchool in'1951. Besides his regular school term duties, Mr. Reiter spends the greater part of the summer planning the schedule for the coming year. We wish to acknowledge Mr. Reiter's diligent efforts to improve Southern Lehigh over the last six years. Mr. Schneck-Director of Secondary Services WTS: Mr. Lesak-Guidance Coupselor.
