You Have To Pay The Price The 1964 football squad earned the recogni- tion as the most successful football team in the history of Southern High School. The season can be marked as a team effort, the boys were determined from the very Start that they were going to make this our best season. From the first practice to the last game, they were con- stantly improving their technique and never gave up their desire to work hard. In summing up, I can say the boys Paid the Price. Season Victoriously . . . On September 19, the Bulldo s took Gwynn Park 12 t . ' apass from Gary Tuner, Wells Dbgon raced 40 yards to seg-gdriiiillthng downthat set off an electric current in the stands -- the current that was EFS. the whole season. Donald Sheckells ran 34 yards for On September 26, the Bullodgs smashed Col. Richardson 25 to 6 in our Homecoming game. Two touchdowns were brought in by Gary Turner. Bob Stach and Donald Marshall gave the score two more big boosts. On October3, ourboys took a heart- breaking defeat from Lackey. Our only touchdown was scored by George Gross recovering a Lackey fumble . On October 10, we beat Central 13 to 7. Dixon and Turner once again figured in the first touchdown. Bob Stach scored the winning touchdown in the last minutes of the game . Saturday, October 17, was a rainy, muddy day, but nothing dampened the spirit of the many fans who waded through the mud, and sat in the rainto see N. Dorchester fall 12 to 0. The Saints foiled us on October 23, intheir Homecoming game. Bob Stach received the kick-off and ran 85 yards for the ony Southern touchdown. St. Marys won the game 25 to 7.. Great Mills was our last home game . In the eyes of Coach Tereshinski, it was the most crucial up until that time because only Great Mills had defeated St. Marys. This was our chance to prove our worth and to end a perfect home series. We romped over the visi- tors 17 to 3. N. Caroline met its third defeat as the Bulldogs edged past them in a 30-0 victory. Dan Lackey booted a 35 yard field goal inthe third quarter for South- ern only points. Ln the last game of the year we en- ded the season on a high note with an easy victory of 25-0 over Calvert County.
