Confeds advance to mia-state play-offs Since August 8, the Varsity Confederates have been working together to produce one of the finest and highest-scoring football teams in the state. In addition to the mighty “Rebel” defense, the Confeds have astounded their Mid-State 3-A opponents with their equally effective rushing and aerial attacks. Our excellent season record of 8-2 was due to a large extent to our fine coaching staff. Head coach Walter Hanford spent many hours trying to perfect our team plus teaching them leadership and sportmanship. His assistant coaches, Wade Matthews and Roy Clayton, did a great job working with our line and backfield. These coaches combined to help develop All-Conference players in Sam Fisher, Brent Isley, Terry Johnson, and Bobby Guthrie. Head Coach; Walter Hanford and Honorary Captain, Sam Fisher.
