Freshmen prepared for new Arriving at Southern for the first frantic weeks were the worst—getting time was a very frightening experience into the wrong class, feeling lonely, for this year’s freshmen. With a will trying to learn new names, waiting in to make friends and to be accepted by long lunch lines, and worst of all upper classmen, they tried to fit into being called “‘green.”” the high school pattern.
