Qi This year's golf team had a highly successful season. Though the season started slowly, the team rapidly began to show im- provement. They finished the season with a fine rating ot fourth p ace. The team consists of three seniors, Wallace Daniel, Randy Page, and Bennie Elliott, three Sophomores, Dan Hill, Ray Mar- tin, and Jay Johnson. With only three members of the team leav- ing, next year Southern can expect an outstanding season. Bennie'Elliott chips toward the ninth. Ian Hill swings our team to victory. Wallace Daniel is observing the first rule of golf. y Martin exhibits his winning form. Randy Page makes the most of his irons. Leading the lower classmen teams to victory were the iunior Varsity cheerleaders. C hosen each fall by teachers, coaches, and var- sity cheerleaders, these girls must work hard and fast to learn yells be- fore their first football game. KNEELING: June Currin, head. STANDING: Linda Creech, Bonnie Allen, Nancy Parrish, Becky Wal- ton, and Sandra Ripley. A pyramid of prize yellers, the Varsity cheerleaders take a break from practice. Sporting red and white uniforms, our Varsity cheerleaders have kept their intectiousenthusiasn throughout the year. They should be commended for the support and school spirit they demon- strated during the i959-60 school year. Closely associated with all the various athletic activ- ities, these cheerleaders did more to boost the moral and convince the teams that everyone was behind them, win or lose, than ever before.
