Paris FRENCH CLUB Le Circle de Francais was organized in the fall, due to the request of the stu- dents. The meetings featured programs about Napoleon Bonaparte, the City of Paris, Christmas customs in France, and French art. Highlights of the year were, a movie, Flight to Paris, a skit of The Night Before Christmas, and attending the French play at Duke University. LATIN CLUB The Latin Club, newly formed this year, already has several activities to its cre- dit. Its members attended the North Carolina Junior Classical League Convention in Chapel Hill, sponsored bake sales at recess, and from these proceeds held a sump- tuous Roman Banquet as a climax to the year. '97 EUTURE TEACHERS OE AMERICA The Future Teachers ot America be- gan its year by presenting an assembly program for National Education Week. During this program various teachers were acknowledged and presented with humorous gifts. ln February, the Northern High School Chapter ot the E.T.A. was honored at a tea in our high school library. Miss Clay spoke to the group about scholarship possibilities. A picnic at Duke Park climaxed the year's activities. DEBATE CLUB The Debate Club, under the direction of Mr. Jerald Pierce held its try outs in the middle of the year, The club had two teams, the A and B teams. The A team was composed of Haywood Clayton, Jill Salinger, Wallace Daniel, and Marietta Stevenson. A great deal of time was spent gathering materials from the University of North Carolina and Duke Libraries.
