This is our attempt to capture the world behind the doors at Southern Fulton—the world known only to the students. A magician can make objects appear from thin air. In future years, we will be able to pull the Chieftain from the shelves to refresh our dusty memories. Then all our close associations with the administration, faculty, and students will come back to us. Whisper to us words of pleasure, As the dim twilight Softly gathers round our colors. Dear Maroon and White To the Indians brave and noble, We will not refuse Loyalty and firm devotion. When we win or lose; We will always sing thy praises, Work for thy success; Hail to noble Alma Mater, Hail S.F.H.S. 6 WISDOM WITH DILIGENCE AND SKILL KNOWS NOT THE IMPOSSIBLE Class Officers President—Carol Whitfield Vice-President—Sarah Carson Secretary-Alinda Leasure Treasurer—Sue Duvall Historian—Greg Peck CLASS HISTORY We the Class of ’69, entered the freshman class numbering sixty three. We held an assembly and a candy sale supervised by our advisors, Mr. Marvin Butts and Miss Joanne Gum. Mrs. Dotti Akers, Mrs. Anna Maye Sigel and Mrs. Carole Palmer Molded us in our sophomore year. Our activities for the year were a dance and the selling of Mrs. LeLand’s candy. Mrs. Irma Anderson, Mr. Gene Coldsmith, and Mr. John Elbin directed our efforts in our junior year as we sold Stanley products. In the fall, we participated in the Junior-Senior Play, “On Borrowed Time.” The spring was highlighted by the Prom, “Underwater Fantasy.” With a class trip to New York City as our incentive, Mr. George Crouse, Mrs. Swaneda Yost, and Mr. Wayne Bard helped our (39?) numbers push ahead with full force. We were especially successful in our magazine sale, setting a new county record of S2,540. Other activities included the publication and sale of The Chieftain, the sale of candy at basket- ball games, and the sale of Easter candy. This plus the Junior-Senior play, “The Curious Savage,” made our Senior year a very prosperous one. 7 IN MEMORY OF 8 SENIORS CONNIE MARKAY STRAIT BAIN “Connie” General Chorus 1,2,3,4; Art Club 1,2,3,4; Prom Committee 3; Pep Club 1; FNA 2,3,4; FHA 4; Year book Staff 4.
