Their opponents were the varsity from St. Mary’s High in Hagerstown, our first competition with this school. Another team new to most of our players is Clear Spring whom we had not met in com- petition since 1953. It is the hope and desire that more experienced players will help to make our team increasingly more successful, and that all, or nearly all the scores will be in our favor up to and including the final game on March 1, 1957. We are confident that we shall be able to win both the county trophy and the Cove League trophy if the girls continue to display the qualities evidenced so far in their competition. Adding to school spirit and the appearance of our team, are the attractive new uniforms that were purchased this season. Of the first team, only two Seniors will be absent from competition next year, so our hopes will remain at a high point for another successful season. « Marlene Yonker Esther Mellott CENTER, Left to Right: Helen Divel, Coach, Mr. Herbert Edwards; Kathryn Weller. Affiliated with the Y.M.C.A. members choose topics to be discussed, problems to be solved, and service projects to be undertaken during the course of the school year. Perhaps the highlight of the year’s activity is the annual county-wide rally held each spring in McConnellsburg. This rally permits social meetings, discussion of ideas and problems, and is an example of Hi-Y Fellowship at work. Its goals are these: 1. Make better sportsmen out of the members. 2. Get members familiar with game laws. 3. Teach safety and proper care of firearms. 4. Teach facts about wildlife. 5. Protect wildlife through better management. This is the first year of our organization, but we have already forty-two members, of whom approximately 40 per cent are active in hunting. Principle activities enjoyed by the Outdoor Club are field trips, showings of sports films, and discussions of topics significant to any sports minded person. DR. R. C.
