' Q t K3 ,jj 'W4 , Rx, - , '--1 I 43? if I gf - 22 I feel Freshman Week was great - I enjoyed the concert and picnic the most - even with the upperclassmen bugging us about wearing our beanies and saying 'Hello' to 'Mr. Owl. So commented one member of the class of 1973 about Southern's New Student Week, Monday, Sept. 8 through Saturday, Sept 13, 1969. Organized and conducted by upper classmen and student government, Ori- entation Week included a walking tour of the campus, a reception for new stu- dents and faculty, a pop concert, a mixer and an all-day picnic. One freshman described the campus tour as the best part of New Student Week because we heard about the clubs and the worst part because I got blisters from all the walking in my new shoes. Another freshman gave top priority to the pop concert, held in Lyman Audi- torium, and to the picnic, which took place at Holiday Hill, Cheshire. The' new members of SCSC enjoyed various ath- letic activities, swimming, horseback rid- ing, tennis - playing and dancing. FRESH
