IVY GENTLE DEDICATION If a name ever fit a person it is true in ttiis instance. Mrs. Ivy Gentle is truly a gentle wonnan. She has been our Academy Nurse since 1972 and in thiat time has endeared herself to all by her loving and caring nature. Not only has she taken care of major and minor hurts by she has been involved in all other aspects of Academy life. Being an outdoors loving person she eargerly attends Senior retreat each year v ith our senior cadets to join in the fun and also be there if needed We con always see her smiling face at picnic, carnival and other specoil events throughout the year. She is alvk ays ready with a happy yes when asked to perform extra duties, etc. This poem expresses very aptly our feelings about Mrs. Gentle: To share joy is to show love To show love ■■■■is to know God To know God is to do good. To do good is to spread happiness. Carolin S. Kotowisz It is with extreme gratitude and happiness we dedicate our 1981 CADET to Mrs. Ivy Gentle. George V. Hurte Headmaster HEADMASTER ' S MESSAGE The school year 1980-1981 has been one of excitement and innprove- ment in our program and our Cadet Corps. I want to thank each cadet who helped to make this a great nine months. You are the gentlemen who will one day be responsible for the path this country takes. This realization is the basis of the challenge we accept as faculty and staff. To do our very best that you might be parpared for what lies ahead. May your memories of SCMA be fond memories and may you realize that we had your best interest at heart even when you may have felt that things weren ' t always going the way you wanted. May God direct your path as you leave SCMA and complete your education in the years ahead. Lenard A, Staten Assistant Headmaster Academics Trust the Lord with all your heart. Never rely on what you think you know. Remember the Lord in everything you do, and he will show you the right way. Proverbs 3:5 6 Here at SCMA you hove had good aca- demic instruction and you have made pro- gress in your educational path. But you hove also been taught by word and example the importance of faith in your lives. Through your experiences here, both positive and negative, your character has been molded toward a better man. 1 would admonish each of you to continue in the paths you have begun and established here and grow academically, so- cially and spiritually so you will become the man God wants you to be. is Marie E Hurte Assistant Headmaster Activities The skating party, senior ditch day, retreat, When will the rings get here? all have now become just memories to the 1981 senior class. But coupled with the memories which you have are those which 1 have of a student council which gave SCMA its first mascot and a senior class which provided leadership for the entire student body As your Activities Di- rector, may 1 say thank you for making my work so enjoyable and wish you God ' s richest blessing as you continue your life ' s goals. My prayer is that you will bless someone else ' s life OS you hove blessed mine Marie E, Hurte M .0 Glenn D. Davis Assistant Headmaster Admissions It has been a rewarding time for me to shore your educational experience at SCMA While life itself is a University, the educational system provides numerous ' Vindows of learning which we are priviledged to pass, and in passing observe the record of others. These views provide us, both positive and negative reference points that can serve us well as we chart our own course in life. One of the many critical characteristics of these educational windows is that they are time limited. Hence the vital impor- tance of looking carefully and comprehensively when exposed to these vistas of learning I hope your educational window at SCMA has been a positive experience, and that you will never forget the view presented here which exposes all stu- dents to Christian Ethics, strong academics, positive leadership and wholesome patriotism, I recommend you adopt St, Augustine ' s life princi- ples: To myself I will show a heart of steel; to my fellow-man o heart of love, and to my God, a heart of flame With positive expectations for your future Mr Glenn Davis Ronald Hurte Night Commandant Irving J. Aden Lt. Col, Ret, USA Commandant of Cadets MESSAGE FROM THE COMMANDANDT To be glad of life, because it gives you the chance to love and to work, to play and to look up at the stars: to be satisfied v ith your possessions, but not contented v ith yourself until you have made the best of them, to despise nothing in the v orld except falsehood and meanness, and to fear nothing except cowardice, to be governed by your admirations rather than by your disgusts; to covet nothing that is your neighbor ' s except his kindness of heart and gentleness of manners; to think seldom of your enemies, often of your friends, and every day of Christ; and to spend as much time as you can with body and with spirit, in God ' s out-of-doors-these are little guideposts on the foot-path of peace, Henry Van Dyke William Presley Sgt, Maj, Ret, USA Assistant Commandant Chester Dorey Captain Assistant Commandant X 4 .■, - Karen Adelseck Grade 4 Debbie Anderson Kindergarten Kristo Bihl Grade 5 ■i V . 1 1 i 4..
