SEPTEMBER . . . Summer vacation is over, it's back to school again. Sun- day, the day of the reception, finds the Cadets dressed in their best, and meet- ing their new teachers for the year ahead. The next day, Resident Cadets check into the barracks. First stop: Headquarters, next: The Comman- dant's Office, then to the barracks. Tuesday, the buses are rolling and classes are running full steam. The first Week, cadets are busy receiving textbooks and Working their way through the endless pages of the Stanford Achievement Tests. Recess: a time to meet old friends and also make new ones. After school hours include: football practice, preparing for inspection, and free play. Common questions are: Whose room are you in? What bus do you ride? Is it our day for canteen? Quickly names are learned, schedules are followed and everyone soon realizes that Septem- ber and School mean the same thing. J-gint 1, Q Y. By this time the cadets are well into their studies. The A and B football teams have won their first game of league competition. Many new friendships have been formed. The canteen, as always, is a popular spot. Many new items, in- cluding jackets with your name on it, have been added. Everyone likes a picnic! The Parent Association is no exception. There is always a lot of food, a variety of races, games and people, people, people. The cadets are involved in their military tests as part of the qualifications for promo- tions. Hup, two, three, four. During the last week of October you can hear the Kindergarten cadets singing about pumpkins and witches. The Gideons visit bringing New Testa- ments. Excitement fills the air as the first Dress Parade of the year draws near. Everyone stands straighter, marches better, and looks extra nice for the big day. Chapel, Dress Parade and the Tea. L .
