Bo. Co. was honored with the presence of Hitomi Kunugi from Vamanashi Japan. She was a foreign exchange student. She found life over here much different but also fun. In Japan, Hitomi played the piano starting at age four. She performed here for the NHS initiation. Hitomi also drew various pictures that could be seen throughout the year and was voted most artistic in the senior class. While over here she enjoyed many American customs. In school she participated in choir, Pep Club, Spanish, FBLA, and was voted Miss Sweetheart at the Valentines Dance. First semester Hitomi stayed with Mr. Mrs. Ronnie White. Second semester she stayed with Mr. Mrs. Lahmen Wren. J Tragedy The fire that hit Ashland will long be remembered by the So. Bo. Co. students. It was a trying time for all involved. Trucks from Columbia as well as Ashland and Hartsburg battled the blaze throughout the night. Everything 15 Beaattfal Students this year found themselves wrapped up in all kinds of activities. The Ashland Volunteer Fire Department consists of several of our co-students: Price N.. James F., Billy T., Steve U.. Junior S.. and Adam S. These students were excused from class anytime a fire call came in. The calls broke up the monotony of classes, but some were far from pleasant. One of the largest calls they answered was our very own gym. As shown above and below, volunteers worked hard and fast to investigate the blaze. There are some times when being a fireman are enjoyable such as at right, during the Homecoming parade. Winter Wonderland Christmas spirit filled the air at So. Bo. Co. this year. Bulletin boards and Santa added to the Christmas fun while students exchanged and opened presents with their friends. Upper left. The annual Senior tea was held for all seniors who graduated at semester, on December 21. Later in the day, Santa paid a visit to many elementary students. Tt)e Things We For Fove This years Spring play was a 2-act melo- drama comedy called “Labors of Love. The play revolved around a young governess and her experiences with the Gotrocks family. With the direction of Mrs. Heifner and singing coach Mrs. Durst, the play was a great success. The cast consisted of: Lori B.. Bruce S., Debbie H., David B.. Karla G., Vicky R.. Biff B.. Chris M.. Price N.. Debbie R.f Brenda S.. Donna L.. Diane W„ Lisa T., Constance C.t Jeff S., Tracy S., Randy W.. and piano player, Cheryl N., Anita K. Country Disaster struck once again for the Annual FFA Barnwarming. The tragedy occurred while hauling hay. A truck loaded with hay turned a corner and the guys that were riding on top fell off along with the hay. No one was badly hurt, just a lot of cuts and bruises. As shown, FFA members had fun building the tunnel and crawling through later on. ...Grov Up To Be Covl o This year the FFA Chapter held their first annual Rodeo at Millersburg. Many contestants from all over the state entered and showed their talents. Events included barrel racing, pole bending, team chute dogging and many others.
