The big event finally came with much by the juniors. Prom was held at Campus Inn in Columbia. The theme was the Garden of Eden. The program got underway, with the welcome given by Veronica White, Mr. Robert Frank read off the awards, and Peggy Hulen Wren read the wills and prophecies. Dinner was served and the dance followed. The music was provided by the Roadside Band. Jeff Henry and Veronica White served as Junior Marshalls for Baccalaureate and Graduation. Michelle Libbert, Ricky Ryals, Mark Barner, Rochelle Calvin Northway. Steve Stcgeman, and Mary Arnold served as ushers. The speaker for Graduation was the late Jerry Litton. The Seniors of 77 began their final year with a class meeting. Officers were elected. They were: Dick Smith, President, Kay Harmon. Vice-President and Donna Richardson as Secretary Treasurer. Janice Allen and Mary Arnold served as Student Council Representatives. Ms. Janis Dietrich. Ms. Sue Martin, Mr. Thomas Walker, and Mr. Rich Lyles served as the class sponsors. The senior tradition of selling magazines was continued as the class barely missed their goal of $4,000. Along with magazines they sold tapes, records, and comic books. Michelle Libbert was the top salesman and Veronica White was the grand prize winner. Next, the seniors ordered their graduation announcements, memory books, and Senior Keys. After several weeks, the orders came in and it was time to order caps and gowns. It was decided that everyone would wear maroon caps and gowns with a white and maroon tassel. National Honor Society inducted nine seniors into the club this year. They were: Rodney Branson, Kandie White, Becky Cundiff, Mark Barner, Dick Smith. Mary Ann Rand, Janice Allen. Mary Arnold, and Kay Harmon. Quill and Scroll took in seven new members with three of them being seniors. They were: Mary Ann Rand. Kay Harmon, and Veronica White. The Senior Class Plays were to be presented the 14th of May. Three one-act plays were to be presented. The first one, “Sorry, Wrong Number” had the following cast members: LaDona Jeffrey, Karla Wren, Janice Allen, Mark Barner, Mike Martin, Kay Harmon, Denis Lenger, and Mark Hooibrink. Jeff Henry, Keith Schenewerk. John Crane. Janice Allen, Mary Arnold. Kay Harmon, and Pat Nichols acted in the second play, “Uncle Remus. The third one act play was, Feud at Squirrel Hollow. The parts were played by: Mary Arnold. Mark Hooibrink. Mike Martin, Kay Harmon, Janice Allen, Jeff Henry. Pat Nichols. Mark Barner. Denis Lenger, and Karla Wren. Senior Job-Hunting Day, College Visitation Day, or get lost Senior Day will be a new addition this year. May 6th was the day set for this. May 20. 1977 was the last official day for the seniors at school. Following that Friday was the Junior-Senior Prom on May 21st, then Baccalaureate on May 22. Float Trip on May 23rd. Six Flags on May 24th, Day at the Lake on May 25th and Graduation on May 26th.
