The Seniors say “good-bye” to us, We say “good-bye” to them. We realize we may never see their face in school again. We reminisce on all our high school days together; But just because you’re leaving now. We’ll remember you forever . . . The memories will linger on But the day will come to an end. All I can do is cry awhile- And say “GOOD-BYE”, my Senior Friend. Karen Cunningham Junior Class 3 Southern Boone County R-l School Ashland Missouri Sharon Gilliam. Editor Seniors CLii Of 77 The class of 77 began their rise to seniorship this way. Their class project, as Freshmen, was selling candy bars which helped them in purchasing materials for the float. The theme of their float was. The Computer Wore Tennis Shoes. This theme and hard work paid off. for the freshmen placed third in the Homecoming Parade competition. Mrs. Peggy Wren was the homecoming candidate for their class. Mr. Darrel Durham was the class Vice-President, along with being Mr. So. Bo. Co. with Miss So. Bo. Co.. Mrs. Peggy Wren. Vincent Clavin was the class president. Miss Jani Hazell followed as Secretary-Treasurer. Donna Richardson reigned as Barnwarming Queen. The Sophomore year of the 77 seniors began with election of class officers. Darrel Durham served as President, Veronica White as Vice-President, Donna Richardson as Secretary Treasurer, and Cindy Skinner Reeder as Student . Council Representative. The class sponsors were Mrs. Sharon Bullard and Mrs. Jolene Daugherty. % As the year progressed, Ricky Ryals, Jeff Henry, and Veronica White were the first students to be elected from the class, into National Honor Society. When Barnwarming rolled around. Robyn Wright Sappington was chosen for the sophomore class candidate. After Barnwarming, Homecoming was not far behind. The theme was from the year 2001. The Eagles took on the Missouri School of the Deaf with a score of 100-72. In the float competition, the sophomore float placed second. The theme of their float was, “Planet of the Eagles.” This was the year of change in Homecoming candidates. Instead of havi ng a candidate from each class, it was decided to have three senior candidates with an attendant from each class. The winner was announced the night before Homecoming at the Bonfire as another switch. Before, the queen had been announced between the two games at Homecoming. The sophomore attendant was Debbie Morris. Her escort was Ronnie Nichols. The junior year of the 77 seniors was a busy one. It was their turn to give the Junior-Senior Prom. Veronica White was President, Jeff Henry was Vice-President and Sandy Forbis Jackson was Secretary Treasurer. At a class meeting, it was decided to hold a Slave Auction along with a Chicken Bar-B-Que at Rock-Bridge State Park as their major money making project. The second money making project was the Junior class play, You Can’t Take It With You”. It was about an upper-class and a middle-class family who were working to get along together. The cast members were LaDonna Jeffrey, Karla Wren, Denis Lenger, Donna Richardson, Stanley Sapp. Bill Basinger. Janice Allen. Mike Martin, Keith Schenewerk. Pat Nichols, Danny Stiers, Jeff Henry, John Bullard. Mike Craig, and Shelly Davidson. In the meantime. Barnwarming was also sneaking up. Cindy Skinner Reeder took the priviledge of being the Barnwarming Queen. Joe Huntinger was the Junior King Candidate. Next. Homecoming rolled around as Theresa Blank Basinger was elected to be the Junior Attendant. Her escort was Ben Hilgedick. The theme was, Commercials.” The Eagles faced Blair Oaks, and went down to defeat in overtime. In academics, National Honor Society received six new members from the class. They were: Rochelle Calvin Northway, Jani Hazell, Donna Richardson. Michelle Libbert, Steve Stegeman. and Sandy Bernard. Quill and Scroll inducted five new members. They were: Sandy Forbis Jackson. The program got underway, with the welcome given by Veronica White, Mr. Robert Frank read off the awards, and Peggy Hulen Wren read the wills and prophecies. Dinner was served and the dance followed. The music was provided by the Roadside Band. Jeff Henry and Veronica White served as Junior Marshalls for Baccalaureate and Graduation. Michelle Libbert, Ricky Ryals, Mark Barner, Rochelle Calvin Northway. Steve Stcgeman, and Mary Arnold served as ushers. The speaker for Graduation was the late Jerry Litton. The Seniors of 77 began their final year with a class meeting. Officers were elected. They were: Dick Smith, President, Kay Harmon. Vice-President and Donna Richardson as Secretary Treasurer. Janice Allen and Mary Arnold served as Student Council Representatives. Ms. Janis Dietrich. Ms. Sue Martin, Mr. Thomas Walker, and Mr. Rich Lyles served as the class sponsors. The senior tradition of selling magazines was continued as the class barely missed their goal of $4,000. Along with magazines they sold tapes, records, and comic books. Michelle Libbert was the top salesman and Veronica White was the grand prize winner. Next, the seniors ordered their graduation announcements, memory books, and Senior Keys. After several weeks, the orders came in and it was time to order caps and gowns. It was decided that everyone would wear maroon caps and gowns with a white and maroon tassel. National Honor Society inducted nine seniors into the club this year. They were: Rodney Branson, Kandie White, Becky Cundiff, Mark Barner, Dick Smith. Mary Ann Rand, Janice Allen.
