Too many of us go through life With blindfolds on our eyes, So busy with our own pursuits, We fail to realize------------ That all around us there are needs, Each one of us can fill. By giving of ourselves with love, Compassion, and goodwill. It only takes a smile, A word or two of cheer, A little time to listen, With a sympathetic ear. A hand outstretched in friendship Is a gift beyond compare, To someone who is burdened And troubled by despair. God never meant for us to close Our hearts and minds uptight. And only see the things which Make our world secure and right. He'd rather have us reaching out To touch our fellow man, And show him we are willing To help him if we can.
