We embarked upon our final year of high school on August 28, 1972. Roland Wren was elected President; Donna Anderson, Vice-President; and Pam Day, Secretary-Treasurer. Mrs. Tichenor, Mr. Saccaro, and Mrs. Bullard pro- vided us with a great deal of help as our spon- sors. Debbie Hudson was our Bamwarmin' candidate. Donna Walls reigned over Homecom- ing. Our float, Yellow Submarine, won first place in the float competition. Marcia Gardner and Kent Crump were chosen Mr. and Miss AHS. The Senior Play, THE NIGHT OF JANUARY 16th, was a success and helped the class meet the expenses for the Senior Trip. May brought several important events into the lives of the seniors. The first of those was Prom. The junior's did a beautiful job of ful- filling their theme of Indian Summer. Curtis Wren and Charlene Loyd were selected Prom King and Queen. Prussian Blue provided the music for the dance. Then the time came for the final events that some of us had been looking forward to and some of us had not been looking forward to. On May 20, our first step toward graduation became a reality. We all met at the school for our Baccalaureate exercises. Rev. Lloyd Denton gave us the charge to make the best of our lives. With Rev. Denton's words and knowing that Fri- day was only a few days away, we left for our last outing together, The Senior Trip. This year the class decided to go to the Lake of the Ozark where we stayed for 2 nights and 3 days at the Sherwood Lodge. It was a trip enjoyed by everyone and a time that will always be remem- bered by the whole class. We returned on Wednesday, and then the time came for our final participation at school. Friday morning we were honored by many senior awards, and then preparation for Commencement exer- cise Friday evening, May 25, 1973, began. It was now time for the Class of '73 to make the final walk through the halls of AHS. As usual the Class of '73 decided to do something a little different, and they chose two of their fellow classmates to give the Commencement Address-Debbie Hudson and John Crane. Then the time came: Forty-eight seniors in royal blue robes were presented their diplomas. Afterwards, the seniors sang the Alma Mater, as we performed the candlelighting cere- mony. Caps and gowns were turned in, and we left the school as graduates. The next time we come back to AHS, we will be called Alumni.
